African traditions are rich with oral storytelling. To honor the heritage and talents present within our community, the Angela Snyder Elementary School will host a storytelling event in the library on Friday, February 10, 2012. The event will be running all day, in order to accommodate the attendance of all grade levels. We will feature special guest Janice Curtis Greene, a renowned griot and storyteller.
We are encouraging parent attendance at this event in two ways. Parents who would like to hear these stories and assist at follow-up comprehension stations can contact Ms. Haughney at her email address (THaughney@ASES.org) or by calling our school at 1-443-867-5309. Also, any parent who has a traditional African or African-American story that they would like to share at our event may contact our principal, Ms. Lippy, at her email address (RLippy@ASES.org) or at 1-443-867-5309.
